Who is Eligible?

The Youth Essential Service Worker program is a great opportunity for young Canadians who want to pursue a career in community services. This 12-week program is designed for youth between the ages of 16 to 29, who are Canadian citizens or have refugee status, residing in British Columbia. To be eligible for this program, students must be living in Quesnel, Williams Lake, Dawson Creek, Bella Coola, 100 Mile and Chetwyn BC, be between the ages of 16 to 29, not attending school, and not currently employed or you are underemployed (less than 20 hours a week). Grade 12 is not required for this program, except for those students who are interested in participating in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) course. Additionally, students must have a clear criminal record check to participate in the program.

For students, this program is fully funded, and online courses are available with computer loaners available if needed. Students will also receive a weekly stipend of $200 to help support them during the program. Upon completion of the program, students will receive certificates in First Aid with CPR and Food Safe, Naloxone Training, Mental Health and Addictions Awareness, and Trauma Informed Care.
